Copley XC Weekly Update
September 7–13, 2026
What a Week!
What a week!
I brought in the Thursday and Friday practice finish times to reflect when we have realistically been getting done. We have been very efficient so far and have consistently finished on time, so I wanted the schedule to better reflect that.
🏁 LCCC Race Reflection
As for yesterday’s race, you cannot expect to PR often at LCCC. It is a challenging course, but that challenge teaches a level of toughness that a lot of courses simply will not.
Overall, I thought we finished well and executed in several areas we have been working on. There are still things we need to clean up, but that is a good place to be at this point in the season.
One thing I really want everyone to notice is who is around us in the team results. We finished just behind several teams that are showing up in the different state polls that are now coming out.
That Matters.
It tells us that we are close. We do not need some massive transformation to compete with those teams. We need a few tweaks, continued development, and better execution in some key areas. If we keep putting those pieces together, there is no reason we cannot be right there with them.
Yesterday showed us both where we are and where we can go. Now we get back to work.
📊 Athlete Race Analysis
Athletes, please read through the analysis I put together from Saturday's race. Use it as an opportunity to understand what went well, where we lost time, and what we need to improve going forward.
Also, make sure you are logging your workouts and, most importantly, how you feel after each workout. This data is crucial when determining training effect and deciding whether the work we are doing is producing the response we want.

💤 Sleep & Recovery
🏆 Sleep Champion
Congratulations to Kateri Villarreal, this week's Sleep Champion! The Sleep Champion water bottle stickers have arrived.
We do need to improve the consistency of our sleep logging. Only 8 athletes logged sleep on five days last week.
That tells me many athletes are relying on the days when we enter sleep information together at practice. Some days at practice we only record attendance and do not collect sleep, so athletes need to take ownership and log sleep on their own each day.
The more complete the data is, the better picture we have of recovery, training load and how each athlete is responding.
🎟️ Night at the Races 2026–2027
We sent an update earlier this week regarding Night at the Races 2026–2027. This is an important team event, so please make sure you have had a chance to review the information.
